The Core Functions of Integrity Unit Universiti Malaya
In 2013, the Government of Malaysia decided to have all government agencies establish and operate a specialized unit to manage integrity issues. The Universiti Malaya Integrity Unit was formed in line with this decision. The Unit’s core functions as provided under Service Circular No. 6 of 2013 as follows:
a) GOVERNANCE
Ensure the Universiti Malaya (UM) observes and practises principles of good governance at all times;
b) INTEGRITY ENHANCEMENT
Inculcate and develop a culture of integrity among the UM's Communities;
c) DETECTION AND VERIFICATION
Investigate and verify complaints concerning the unlawful act, misconduct and unethical behaviour by the UM's Communities; and
to report the unlawful act to the proper law enforcement agency;
d) COMPLAINT MANAGEMENT
Receive and take action on complaints or information concerning the unlawful act, misconduct and unethical behaviour by the UM's Communities;
e) COMPLIANCE
Ensure the UM compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and
f) DISCIPLINARY
Act as secretariat for the UM Staff Disciplinary Committee.
